Welcome to our 2001 State Flower quilt contest and on-line quilt show. The winners have been picked and all the quilts are ready for you to view. The first, second, and third place winners were picked by judges at Quilts & Other Comforts and by our special judge Pat Yamin of Come Quilt With Me, who joined us from NYC. Our Viewers' choice award was voted on over the Internet by quilters all over the world.
The winners are...
First Place went to Carol Collett of Arizona for her beautiful quilt featuring a combination of bluebonnet and hand-dyed fabrics, as well as beautiful applique and embroidery.
Second Place went to Chrys Lynn Day of California for a fanciful quilt with storybook animals and extraordinary applique.
Third Place went to Virginia Mynatt of California for a watercolor quilt featuring 3-dimensional butterflies.
The Internet Viewers' Choice Award went to Alice Dunsdon of Iowa for her beautiful Garden Gate design.
The first place winner won a $1,000 gift certificate to the Quilts & Other Comforts catalog and $500 worth of fabrics from Northcott fabrics. The second place winner won a $500 gift certificate and $300 worth of fabrics from Northcott fabrics. The third place winner won a $200 gift certificate from Quilts & Other Comforts and $200 worth of fabrics from Northcott. Our Viewers' Choice winner won a Quilter's Library worth over $300.
Thanks to everyone who entered their beautiful quilts and to Pat Yamin for flying down to Florida to help us judge the contest.
Our next grouping of state flower fabrics and details of our next contest will be available in January. You'll be able to select from the Saguaro Cactus Flower, Coast Rhododendron, Sunflower, Indian Paintbrush, Mistletoe, and Purple Lilac. We will give our on-line viewers a special preview of the fabrics in November. Just sign up for our on-line mail and we will let you know when you can take a look.
